Frogs - Speckled and Wide Mouth

Star of the Week
Thank-you to E.’s Dad for coming to extend our learning – he made a presentation on Chinese characters to the rapt attention of the Kindergarteners on Friday afternoon. This week’s star is D. – thank you for keeping our routine with our substitute teacher on Monday, by sharing your photos and your stories about your weekend with Wazo and Zazo.

Special Guests
On Friday, Athletes in Action will be making special presentations of sport and summer camp options in the Phys. Ed. classes. The Kindergarteners Phys. Ed. class will begin at 8:55 a.m. on that day. For more information, Miss Paul welcomes your call/e-mail (bpaul@bsls.ca).

The Kindergarteners worked in groups to create some beautiful butterfly thank-you cards for Mrs. Seburn, who spent considerable time and effort to obtain and prepare the materials that she brought to our class.

Chime In
The children were particularly enthusiastic about their Five Green and Speckled Frogs chime in, which was sent home on Tuesday (or Wed. if your child was not at school on Tuesday). Children may choose to use their paper figure frogs to act out the song as they share it with you.

Also, look for our Big Wide Mouth Frog book extension art on the bulletin board outside our classroom.

We shared our class story, Luke Skywalker and the Three Hares, with our Grade 5/6 Reading Buddies, who come read to us one-on-one (and sometimes even two-on-one!) each week from favourite books from the class library.

Kindergarten Intramurals – Jump Rope Club
Through the month of May on Wednesdays, all children who wish to participate in Jump Rope Club are welcome to do so in the gym during the lunch hour recess. Children who attend all four meetings of the club are eligible to participate in a jump rope presentation at the Evening of the Arts later this month. This is an excellent start for those students who have chosen to be involved in the Jump Rope for Heart program. If you have any questions about the packages that were sent home with your child on Monday, Mrs. Paul welcomes your call/e-mail (bpaul@bsls.ca).
