WELCOME BACKAfter the Easter weekend, we have many exciting projects and events to wrap up in the month of April. Our culminating projects for our study of paper will be papier mache, a paper design project, and paper-making. Thank you for the wonderful paper samples sent to school with the children, which are on display on our science centre table.
RESURRECTION EGGS
I hope your child has had the opportunity to share The Easter Story with you through the eggs that they assembled prior to Good Friday. We enclosed the story as a reminder for future years, but the children did a wonderful job of telling the story to their Grade 5/6 Reading Buddies last Wednesday. If you are interested in the accompanying bible verses for each egg, I am happy to send home a copy that includes it for your future reference. Children are also invited to decorate their egg cartons at home for many years of storytelling!
SPRING IN FOR SPRING TEAThe Spring Tea will be held this coming weekend - many details have been sent home from the school office (particularly in the principal's update), and our Kindergarten families were asked to contribute muffins for the bake sale (but baking any of your favourite nut-free favourites is welcome and encouraged by PIP - the funds raised are directed to our school's playground project, which will undergo construction during the summer months). This is a lovely little community event wherein the children from Grades 3 - 7 serve dessert and tea/coffee to families from our school (and any friends you have brought with you) and the children and adults have a quaint craft sale - conveniently timed just a few weeks prior to Mother's Day.
MISSING ITEMS - Oh dear! The playground is much drier, and the glorious warm weather has changed the nature of play on the playground from puddle-jumping to spring sports and games. We have looked in likely (and less-likely) locations at school, for the extra socks and related items that children brought to school to be prepared for a few wet recesses. If your child happened to bring home a pair of socks or pants that were not theirs, please accept our plea to return them to school so that we can replenish our stocks for the next rainy days (sure to come again this spring). Please also take a moment to check in the Lost and Found bins in the hallway on the way to the Chapel area to claim any items your family is missing. Also, as the weather becomes warmer, please send a hat in your child's backpack for sun/heat protection, as well as a water bottle in their lunches to ensure plenty of oppportunity for hydration throughout their busy days.
Thanks again for you incredible support of your child's Kindergarten learning,
Mrs. Butterfield
