Remembrance Day Service November 9th
To commemorate Remembrance Day, a date upon which the students will not be at school, the entire school will be taking part in a service on Wednesday at 11 a.m. (Chapel will be as usual at 9 a.m.). The Kindergartners will be reciting a short poem.
Field Trip Note
Thank you to the parents who indicated their ability to drive on our first field trip to the Fire Station on Wednesday. PLEASE ENSURE YOUR CHILD’S BOOSTER SEAT IS LEFT AT SCHOOL THAT DAY unless it is already in place in your vehicle and you are one of the drivers.
Parent drivers will be given a slip of paper outlining who will be riding with you (if there is someone in addition to your own child), a map with the route to the station, and we will proceed from the school at 1 p.m. Please ensure the children in your group walk together with you on the sidewalks, using crosswalks if crossing the street is necessary.
Once we arrive at the station, we will follow direction from the Fire Fighters, who are experienced with school visits.
The main responsibility of the adults in our group will be to take responsibility for a small group of students to gather should the firefighters get sent out on a call during our visit. (This has occurred on previous visits during which I have taken students to the fire hall! It was exciting for the students - the calm, organization and efficiency of the firefighters assisted tremendously in keeping the children calm and following the instructions quickly and quietly!)
We will have future opportunities for those whose schedules did not match up this time. Our next trip will be during our Colour unit.
