Spring Things

WELCOME
A warm Kindergarten welcome to E, who joined our class last week. Thank you to all the students who did such a tremendous job of making her feel welcome to our class.
Also welcome to the warm weather, and to the spring coats, rubber boots and splash pants that have replaced skipants, toques, mittens, scarves, parkas, boots...
EASTER
Last week’s Teddy Bear’s Picnic on Monday, and Good Friday and Easter stories and activities on Wednesday made for a very busy week. In contrast to the start of the year, when the students found the days very long, they all concurred that the days seem to be racing by while at school! An alert for the egg carton Easter stories that went home on Friday: there is a nail in one of the eggs that I hope will remain safely stowed there after the children share their stories with you! The children's enthusiasm for this project was catching!
SPRING
This month’s learning theme continues with our string of seasonal activities, with seeds, bugs, and growing things adding the spice to our math, science, music, art, social studies and language arts activities. We’ll be talking about Canadian coin money this month, and beginning our science and social studies exploration of paper, culminating in a paper mache experiment and art activity.
