Spring Tea and Craft Sale
The children's beautiful spring scene watercolors (painted on linen paper from France with special squirrel bristle brushes under the expert guidance of Mrs. Carol Harms, retired elementary school principal and resident of Thailand) were on display for this wonderful event, which is a tradition at BSLS. Also coming home with the children will be their three-dimensional ladybug crafts, which accompanied an energetic reading of The Grouchy Ladybug by Eric Carle. This was enthusiastically received by the children after our mini-book making of Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The children will be examining more of this author's work, as we also study our final Science Unit about Paper. We kicked off the unit with an introduction to "Elephant Poo-poo Paper" from the Calgary Zoo, and a discussion of the fibres in linen, cotton, and wood-based papers.
