Dear Kindergarten Families,
Once
again, the Kindergarten year began warmly, with much excitement, a few
butterflies, and an introduction to our classroom and one another last week. Getting to know one another and have fun
while learning the expectations and routines of the Kindergarten classroom were
the main goals for our first full week, and we are making excellent progress.
MORNING ROUTINES
When your child enters our classroom, I thank
you for ensuring that when they say
goodbye to you at the classroom door they are wearing their indoor running shoes (please no “fancy” shoes as the maintenance
of several pairs of shoes is very challenging while maintaining other classroom
routines with all of the children throughout the day), and bring in their lunch
box and bookworm bag EVERY DAY.
Children who attend Before School Care are assisted in their morning
organization by the staff from that program. If your child attends BSC, they
take their belongings with them downstairs and bring them up with their
classmates who also attend BSC.
STORIES
Your child brought home their raccoon on their
first day of school, and hopefully had the opportunity to share The Kissing
Hand with you. We also shared many
stories about starting Kindergarten, and will be working with the All About Me
and Trees themes in the weeks ahead.
These two themes are beautifully bridged in the sequel to The Kissing
Hand in the book A Kiss Goodbye – the children were given an acorn as a
reminder of these early themes.
Our reading and writing introductions begin with
“Ss”, “Aa” and “Tt” this week.
God bless you and your family,
Mrs. Butterfield
