June's Sunny Kindergarten News

Dear Kindergarten Families:

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
For your amazing involvement in the Star of the Week program... We loved special guests, looking at one another"s photos, telling stories, and sharing more about one another. I was especially impressed with the growth in the students' ability to ask questions related to the activities of others - this is often a very very challenging skill to learn and to practise at this age!
SUNSCREEN AND HATS The Kindergarteners are very much in need of hats at school now that sunny days abound. If your child has one that could be worn every day to and from school, as well as a waterbottle that they can have on their table during the day, it would go a long way in their stamina and enjoyment of the warm weather. I also give the children small to medium "freezies" on very hot afternoons...some are fruit juice based, but some are the traditional sweet confections. If you have any concerns with your child receiving these, please let me know.
KINDERGARTEN FIELD TRIP Thank you to those who have already returned your child's form regarding our upcoming final field trip to Fort Whyte. If you are free to drive, we are happy to have you join us! Participants need: sunscreen (please apply in the morning), a hat, "litterless lunch", insect repellant, full water bottle, and their school shirt to be worn on that day. The children will be wearing their backpacks to keep all belongings together. If it is at all threatening rain, we will still attend, and I have found Fort Whyte to be a very fun and educational rain or shine field trip in the past for those who are dressed appropriately.
KINDERGARTEN "GRADUATION" We will be celebrating our year of learning on Friday, June 28th at 9 a.m. Please ensure your child is at school at 8:30 that day, then parents can go find a seat in the gym for the ceremony. There will be an opportunity to take photos of your child in their "mortarboard" after the ceremony, then the students will return to the classroom for our final activities in the classroom. The grades 1 - 8 will participate in an awards ceremony after K graduation, then we will all participate in "Sports Day" during the afternoon. Pick up time is at 3:15, or at After School Care if your child is registered there. Report cards will be handed out at 3 p.m. that day. If your child must be absent (unforeseen emergencies DO happen - life IS often what happens while we are making other plans... :), it will be mailed after the end of the school year. DATES OF NOTE: Friday, June 14th Hot dog day (for those who ordered) Monday, June 17th Fort Whyte Field Trip for Kindergarteners Friday, June 21st No School - Admin Day Wednesday, June 26th Grade 8 Graduation (The K's will be singing the 8's a song) Friday, June 28th Last Day of School K Graduation, Sports Day, Report Card Handout Have an amazing week!
