Our new class pet

Hazel the guinea pig has come to Kindergarten!  The students have already discovered that she can only eat Timothy Hay, alfalfa pellets, and fruits and vegetables.  A favourite is apples, pears and lettuce, though she will eventually eat a bit of strawberry or carrot!  The children shared tiny morsels from their own snacks so we could ensure the humans were also eating their fruits and vegetables!  She has already made two of her many communication sounds, and we will be listening for more!  We are looking for a larger cage for her, so if any families have a gently used cage, please let Mrs. Butterfield know!
