March - In Like a...Bear?

March brings us spring (we hope!) and continued stories of friendship, family, and fairytales in Kindergarten. Most of these will be discussed with the theme of BEARS, as we make Three Bears Porridge, do beginning addition, and games with numbers in the teens.

We kick off our science study of paper with a field trip once again to the Children's Museum for "Paper, Trees and Me" and some exploration around the galleries (The Lasagna play structure was a favourite on our first class visit for the "Kaleidoscope" wrap up to our colour study). Thanks again to our fabulous parent drivers and chaperones, who followed the museum guidelines beautifully in ensuring their small groups had a safe, fun, and educational museum experience.

Please ensure that your child has your car seat at school that day, and if your child has an Epipen at school, that they wear it in a fanny pack at all times to, from, and during the field trip. If they do not have a fanny pack, the Epipen will be in the care of the chaperone/driver for their group. While we do not consume any food on the field trip (I must ask that no food at all - not even tiny treats - be given to the children at any time on the trip. The children will have lunch just prior to departure and can have a snack upon return.

Also, I again want to thank Mrs. Linda Isaak for teaching the Kindergarteners in my absence for three days at the beginning of March. We are so blessed to have her skilled guidance in our classroom.

Also this month, the children will be sent home the "Kindergarten Class Star" Schedule with an outline of activities for each child's special day (this is separate from our birthday activities in Kindergarten). The children generally really look forward to their chance to be a star in our learning on those days!

Thanks for your support of your child's Kindergarten Class learning!
Mrs. Butterfield
