MARCH FORTH!

MARCH- IN LIKE A LION, OUT LIKE A LAMB? HOW DO WE DRESS?
This lion-like almost-spring weather looks suspiciously white and fluffy, hinting that this might be the "lamb" and there could be more to come!  Thank you for ensuring your child(ren) have proper outdoor clothing for cold, warm, wet or whatever unexpected weather may come.

STUDENT REPORT CARDS
The children will bring home their report cards on Friday.  Once again, I am cognizant of the report card as an official document of progress based on the outcomes of the Manitoba curriculum, and not a "Hallmark greeting card".  I hope I was able to provide information to you regarding the children's school progress while simultaneously reflecting how they each uniquely impact our classroom and leave little footprints all over my heart at the same time.  I feel blessed to teach them - on the days full of learning, laughter, challenges and triumphs.

STUDENT-LED CONFERENCES
Thank you for sending in your intent form regarding the best day for you to attend Student-led conferences next week.  They will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday (March 12th & 13th).  If you require another copy of the intent form, please request one from the office as soon as possible, as the schedule will be completed by the end of this week.

SHOE BOX
As part of our Social Studies, English Language Arts and applied Information and Communications Technology learning, we will be creating an "All About Me" box for the children to bring home later this year.  Please send a shoe box (or similarly sized REUSED box that has a lid) to school with your child on Monday, March 11th.  We have previously printed out one image, and the children will be covering the box with others with glue and Modge Podge, so please send a box that you do not need to have returned.  Thanks!

FIELD TRIP
Thank you to so many parents who volunteered to drive on our upcoming March trip (date and time details sent to intended families)  - if you are still sending in your form, please know that we currently have more than enough drivers, and will need drivers for our field trips in the months ahead (one booked for June, another pending for May) but if this is the only trip you are able to accompany your child on, by all means volunteer and we will find a duo for you to supervise. My apologies for an error on the first field trip form that indicated confirmation would be forthcoming for drivers on that trip.  If you volunteer to drive in Kindergarten this year, we have room to accommodate you and welcome your attendance.  I will provide drivers with a map and volunteer expectations upon arrival at the school.

ARTISTS IN THE SCHOOL
This week is when Sue Proctor, acting teacher with the Manitoba Arts Council's Artists in the School program, and the students have already done a lovely job of engaging in animated dramatization of a French storybook (please see the principal's update for Family Fun Night information of France week during the week before Spring Break - Country Week is a tradition at BSLS, during which the students learn about the geography, art, music, sport, food, language and customs of a different country each year).  They have also been introduced to "the mime room" (imaginary space beautifully observed and acted in by the children thus far).

Have a wonderful week.

God bless,
Mrs. Lorianne Butterfield
Kindergarten Teacher, BSLS
