Sharing our Uniqueness and Shared Blessings

Dear K Families: My favourite sign seen this week was on Lagimodiere Blvd. "Whoever is praying for snow, please stop". On that note, thank you for being so diligent in sending warm, waterproof, and extra clothing with your child. Their preparedness makes learning more possible and enjoyable! Our Star of the Day boxes have been a project that began with stories about our uniqueness and our commonalities, progressed to our learning to create text and add clip-art in the Technology Lab, and is continuing with our colouring and pasting to create a box with a few of the children's favourite topics pasted on the outside of the box ("funny eyeballs", monkeys, bats, puppies, elephants, and the park and ice cream were among the topics that the children generated). The Star of the Day schedule is coming home this week with an outline of activities for you and your child, including the much anticipated passing of the Skippyjon Jones backpack, stories, and stuffed Skippyjon. If you have any questions or need to request a change in the schedule, I worked to set a schedule with room to adapt, so please let me know this week and I will provide you with the alternate date available. We will be continuing work on the children's "sound booklets" as we simultaneously use these sounds to work together on reading and writing projects, including our current class book project Where is My Bookworm Bag? modelled after the story Maybe a Bear Ate It. Skip counting and whole-part number combinations will continue to be our math topics, and we will be working with the themes of Bears this week and next, and Dinosaurs the subsequent week. “And like flowers in the fields, that make wonderful views, when we stand side-by-side in our wonderful hues.. We all make a beauty so wonderfully true. We are special and different, and just the same, too! So whenever you look at your beautiful skin, from your wiggling toes to your giggling grin... Think how lucky you are that the skin you live in, so beautifully holds the "You" who's within.” ― Michael Tyler, The Skin You Live In A photo of the accompanying bulletin board was sent in the e-mail attachment. A copy will also be inserted into the students' portfolio binder. May God bless and keep you, Mrs. Butterfield
